i heard about the jubilee quilt project and even though i'm not quite 50, i thought i'd jump in and play. i have a tendency to make very slow progress sometimes and so getting a head start seemed like a good idea. my hope is that i will get my own jubilee quilt finished by my 50th birthday which is in march of 2014.
i have decided that i will use some string tulips that i have worked on, loved, and hoarded. i probably have enough of these to make several quilts (over 50) and i haven't decided on a layout for my quilt but i do know that i want to use cheddar and/or a beautiful red fabric(s).
i would be very happy to get suggestions and ideas if you have them so please don't be shy. after all, it's my 50th birthday jubillee quilt and i don't want to find the perfect idea after i've already started setting them~!
quite some time ago i did a tutorial on my blog for these blocks. feel free to link over and check it out. there are several posts within my blog that include shots and/or information about the blocks and my
i'm happy to be a part of this group and fun idea.

Hello, dear Libby ;>)
ReplyDeleteWelcome in this fun adventure! OMG, Libby, as soon as I read about your string tulips, I suddenly remembered about my own ones, quietly sleeping for quite some time (say 3 years, maybe more) in my ufo's pile - I'll email you a picture - I made them string pieced, and with a cheddar sashing (would you believe that? HeeHee...).
I uickly jumped to your blog, and WHAT A TREAT ! Of course I subscribed immediately ;>)
HAPPY SEWING !
XOXOXO
NADINE

Ooooo love those tulip blocks! Thanks for the tutorial, they look like so much fun. No wonder you're addicted! Ideas? Well, four with crossed stems (one tulip in each corner) OR background square on point, triangle in bottom corner for "vase" with stem coming up and tulip nearer the top corner, with leaves out towards each side corner OR bunch of tulips in a vase in a centre block, then medallion style with vine borders and tulips on the vine. Hope you can understand my ideas - if not and you're interested in any, e-mail me and I'll send some drawings! Have fun.
