HI everyone!!

It is spring, complete with a big thunderstorm.  The little garden loves it, though!  Above, the iris are budding out.

I have a few plants in the garden, too, and planted lots of seeds that are sprouting.  How fun!!

The Johnny Jump-ups survived the winter and are blooming and are so pretty!

I love this pot full of fun!

I made several zipper pouches for our guild table, to sell.  I hope they sell, that is!

I have no idea who this heifer is!!  ( me)

I started making some Dresden plate blocks, and I just love them!!

The amaryllis is blooming so big!  I fertilized the bulb and it is so pretty.

Lucky is helping with my projects.  So glad for that!

I am doing the Stay at home round robin, and just have three rounds done so far.  A patriotic year!

This red scrappy is completed for binding.

I got this quilt of valor quilted and ready to bind as well.

Same with this patient quilt!

This is a baby quilt, made from cherished fabric given to me by Annie, my dear friend.

The orchid is blooming too!

Another baby quilt!

And a bag to take things to and fro with. My favorite pink!

 More flower seeds are germinating!!

So that is what I have been up to.  And work, of course.

Continuing on in this lovely New Year!

Hello everyone!  About is my basket quilt, of the old days.  Well maybe still from in this century, but still old.

It is made of strings!  I love them.  I am working on the quilting and finishing of this one.

This log cabin is all done and ready to be gifted to the next patient.

I finished this rainbow quilt from last year.  Hurrah!!  I loved every part of this one! This one is also a patient quilt.

This oldie is heading toward being finished, too.  Just needs the binding. February and Valentine's day is just around the corner!

I am working on this applique each Sunday.  I am loving it!!

My big focus is the Quiltville mystery quilt, and strangely, I do not have photos of it.  I will have to remedy that.

How is your new year coming along??

***********************Nurse's notes***************************

I met the most darling man in the hospital.  He came in with cancer, and he is also homeless.  He was the nicest gentleman I have ever met, no kidding.  Yes ma'am, no ma'am, please and thank you.  Just a darling.  With a hemoglobin of 2.7.  Yes, this is a record low patient hemoglobin for me!! (Hemoglobin is the blood component that carries oxygen to the cells).   We transfused him with blood, and right quick, too.  Untreated cancer...poor baby.  He was a slight man, and had just spent the night outside.  It was 28 degrees that night.  His temperature when I received him from ER was 93.3.  All his worldly possessions were in one suitcase, battered and worn.  I aim to fill that suitcase with new clothing, as his is horribly dirty and decrepit.  He said he would love that, so here I go!

That same day, I had an organ donation patient.  He had a brain bleed and was declared brain dead.  I took meticulous care of him, and went with him to the OR, where a liver, two kidney and lungs were sent winging to patients who desperately needed them to live.   Folks in Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth will now lead semi normal lives due to this man and his sweet family.  I was glad to take care of him, and his family and friends, all gathered around his bed.

Flu A is huge in our hospital.  Lots of sick folks...

Nursing is a big part of who I am, day to day.  Thank you for letting me share a little about what I do in ICU..

Diamond Jubilee

I'm excited to have this quilt finished and to share all I have learned from this project.  It is the first time I have machine appliqued and I think I got fairly good at it :0).  I did my birth date 1-3-53 in thread painting which I have never tried before.....I did okay but not as well as I would have liked. Lastly some machine quilting.  I made pumpkin seeds ,swirls and flowers, did some echo quilting and on the outside border some straight line quilting.  And I got it finished before I turn 62!
I want to thank Randy and Lori for this terrific sew along and inspiring me to mark my 60th year.

Happy Sewing, Kim

Brenda's jubilee quilt finished after three years

I joined up here three years ago,
thinking I could easily finish my Jubilee quilt in a few months.

Today is my 53rd birthday, and now I'm officially showing off  my B quilt.
It's made from 50 Bs sent to me by quilting friends from all over.

Thanks to all of those who joined in.

I'm glad to be done,
and I hope to take a nice long snooze under this quilt today.
Read more about it here at my blog.

Jubilee Tribute is Wearing Blue

Our Quilt Show opened today and my Jubilee quilt has won a blue ribbon.  I am so thrilled!!
I've written a longer post on www.nanagirlquilts.blogspot.com so you can pop in to read a little more.  I have loved being a part of The Jubilee Quilt Project and this quilt is the most wonderful thing. Thanks to all for the encouragement. It's been a wonderful journey.

Ready for quilting! Woot!

It's been a long time coming, but I finally finished piecing the back of my Jubilee!  Woot!

The front was finished in record time, but I agonized over the back for nearly a year and a half!  Deciding to enter it into the Vermont Quilt Festival was the push I needed to figure it out!  And I'm so happy with it now!

The Front.....

and the Back.....

I love how the back turned out.  The orange section with the milk in it is 'made fabric' and was a total blast to put together.  And I'm loving the wavy line between the two sections.

My plan is to embroider the story of the quilt along the wavy line in the orange section with white floss (in tiny little letters!).  It will become the label for the quilt!

Now I just need to get busy with the quilting (which I haven't decided on yet!)!  LOL
