Yes, very delinquent.
I celebrated my Jubilee+5 birthday back in July. Because of a very busy schedule trying to get two quilts ready for our guild's quilt show in June, I decided to wait to even begin my quilt until my birth month - July.
Unfortunately, my life is still pretty stressful and some days I feel at the end of myself both physically and emotionally. Because of that, I've chosen to make my Jubilee+5 quilt a fairly simple one with bright colors. I needed some color therapy!
This is my version of a quilt I saw on Quiltsalott's blog. I admire her quilts very much.
I plan to big stitch quilt the wallhanging but I'm not sure what color perle cotton to use. I've thought about gray to match the squares or bright pink or orange. Any ideas?
Until later, Mayleen
Looking forward to seeing your version.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned orange, and I instantly shouted, "YES!"....lol! This is looking really nice, and I don't mind horizontal trees either! It's kindof charming! I love the dot fabric for the joiners. Sorry things have been hectic for you, but take your time, enjoy the process.....don't make yourself crazy with it.....it's supposed to be fun fun fun! :o)
ReplyDeleteI like that a lot!! Love the initial in the center!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you that it has to be easy in order to be fun. I revamped my plan and will post soon.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks. I like the idea of a monogram/initial. Very clever.
Looks great mayleen!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics and placements. Your initials in the center will be a great personal touch.
Big stitch will look great on this. I'm partial to pink pearl cotton but all you ideas are great.
That Janet at Quiltsalott got me started on this quilt too, but all I've done is start cutting, and at the rate I sew, I'd have a +5, +5 more, maybe +25 quilt. Yours is looking lovely--we have many of the same fabrics, but somehow yours looks better. The grey spot you are using looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt, your fabrics look so bright and happy. I've been tempted by this pattern as well, look forward to seeing your progress. I think the size of your initial looks right the way it is. If it is too small you'll loose it, its your quilt why not stand out??
ReplyDeleteHi! I think this is really cute! And, I love the M just the way it is, brings the eye to you! I think it is perfect!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Leslie
Hi Mayleen, love this quilt and I think the "M" is just perfect. It's your quilt celebrating your birthday so a big "M" is justified!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool ideal and such beautiful colors. Come join me at www.sewcraftykathy.blogspot.com
